Everyone is taken at first to a holding camp in Holland. They are then split up, and sent to different camps. Mr. Frank is the only one who survives. As he finishes reading Anne’s diary, he is much calmer. When he says, “She puts me to shame;” he shows that he too wants to believe that “people are really good at heart.”
